Mangofile offers an all-in-one file management system that can turn a long and painful process of searching through tons of paperwork into a breeze. Even though the program is on the large side, the installation was easy.
The installation wizard takes the user quickly through the setup process. The user is first asked to choose a directory location where Mangofile will store files. Another window prompts the user to set up the administrative account by choosing the username and password. After the user logs in, they can set an additional security question and answer. Although the program is free, you’ll be limited to 25 saves, but you can activate a free license key by sending an e-mail to the author of the program. Upon startup, tips on how to use the program are displayed in a pop-up window, but these can be disabled. The UI is detailed and easy to navigate. Under System Tools, apart from the option to create a new cabinet, the user can also add a new user and assign rights to it, recover records from a specified cabinet, import files and cabinets, as well as migrate and back up cabinets. The user can also easily personalize the program by choosing a desired theme under User Preferences – Personalize. Under Admin, the user can check for statistics, application and system logs, errors, diagnostics, etc. When the Scan option under Home is selected, Workspace loads an additional menu with many options available. The Help manual looks to be professionally written and very detailed.
Mangofile offers a rather comprehensive set of tools for file management and might not be suited for novice users. Since the logic and imagery are the same as using a real-life file cabinet, this program may be good for those transitioning from a paper-based filing system.
